In accordance with IC 16-35-12, additional priority is given to air conduction, or traditional, hearing aids given the larger population in need of these devices and the lower cost, allowing the fund to serve more children annually.
Applications for bone anchored devices will be denied when percent of expended funds exceed percent of year expended. For example, 50% of the fund has been expended but only 40% of the fiscal year has passed. This is evaluated monthly. Applicants can reapply in the next fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
Approval for osseointegrated devices such as the Cochlear BAHA and Oticon Medical Ponto are treated differently than traditional hearing aids due to cost. At this time, applications for osseointegrated devices are open. Please fill out the application form as usual and submit.
